The breakfast was lovely with lots of goodies. Beds and pillows in my small double room were exceptionally comfortable. Location: the hotel was just off Guanacaste, the coast and Garza. Btw, it was 500 feet from Playa Garza.

I stayed at Surfhost for 4 days and it was the perfect spot for a beach getaway. The location is unbeatable, right on the beach with a stunning view of the ocean. The staff made me feel right at home and were always friendly and helpful. The breakfast served each morning was delicious and varied, with fresh fruits, granola, and sometimes pancakes. The atmosphere at Surfhost is laidback and welcoming, ideal for solo or friends travelers. If you're looking for an authentic Costa Rica experience, this is the place to be.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The view and location were amazing. Waking up to see the ocean from my bed and falling asleep to the sound of waves was truly special. The host, Mario, was wonderful. He went above and beyond to ensure that his guests had a great time, always ready to help and provide useful information. The breakfast served under the palms, just 10 meters from the beach, was delicious and made for a perfect start to the day.
There were a few issues that affected my overall experience. the shared bathroom and shower were way too small and didn't seem to be cleaned often enough.

I had the most amazing stay at Surfhost in Garza. The location couldn't be more perfect - right on the beach with a breathtaking view. I loved feeling the ocean breeze and being just steps away from the sand. The atmosphere at Surfhost is so welcoming and family-oriented, it truly felt like home. The staff made me feel like a part of their family and went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable stay. The rooms may be simple, but they are cozy and offer stunning views from the small verandas. Falling asleep to the sound of the sea was a dream. And let's talk about the breakfast - it was absolutely fantastic! Every day was a delicious surprise with a variety of fruits, granola, pancakes, and more. The warm shower was also a delight after a day spent at the beach. There are even three great restaurants nearby, so you have plenty of dining options. Despite being a fishing village, I didn't mind the sounds of village life - it added to the authenticity and charm of the place. Also, the absence of mosquitoes and bugs was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend Surfhost in Garza for anyone looking for a true local experience and a cozy beachfront retreat.
I must mention that the shared bathrooms can be a downside for some. Also, if you're planning to explore the nearby area, be prepared to rely on expensive tuktuks or have enough cash with you as there are no ATMs.

The location of this beachfront hotel was unbeatable. I loved waking up to the sound of waves crashing and being able to see the ocean directly from my bed. The host, Mario, was incredibly attentive and made sure that my stay was enjoyable. The breakfast served under the palm trees was delicious and gave me the energy to start my day. the market and food options in the area were top-notch and within walking distance.
One downside of my stay was the presence of dogs in the area. While some were territorial and barked, others were simply around and prevented me from going for an evening walk.

Perfect location right on the beach with beautiful garden seating. Family atmosphere with friendly animals. Rooms offer amazing views and comfortable beds. Fantastic and varied breakfast. Wonderful warm shower. Supermarket and delicious restaurants nearby.
Some rooms had issues with ants. Tuktuks in the area were expensive, limiting trips to nearby Nosara.
